Twin sisters, Opal and Pearl Jefferson, and their best friend Debra Flores were living blissfully by their no strings attached rule, enjoying the many comforts of a good life. All was well in their world until Frank, Jake, Doug and Rakim entered into it. When one of the girls abandons their well practiced rule and falls in love, does her decision throw a monkey wrench into the lives of everyone else around her? Or does it open up the possibility for love to capture them all?

The girls found themselves at Club Caliente` in a circle of women they didn’t know laughing and talking.

“Holy cow. Lift them boobies, ladies. To your right is a fine specimen of maleness coming this way,” one lady announced.

Turning, along with everyone else, Opal, Pearl and Debbie watched the man walk across the dance floor. He came toward them with a slow stalking stride.

“Talk about your eye candy,” another woman said.

The black, double breasted suit fit his torso excellently, complementing his blue eyes and dark hair perfectly accentuating his broad shoulders and tapered waist creating a mesmerizing image. Opal turned to her left and right. Everyone around her watched the handsome man wide-eyed or slack jawed.

“Oh yes. That man is fine,” she said.

“Uh, huh,” Debbie agreed from her left.

“Yes, he looks incredible,” Pearl said on the other side of her.

The women in their group sucked in a collective breath as he stopped directly in front of Pearl.

“I don’t think I’ve seen anyone look so beautiful,” he said lifting Pearl’s hand to his mouth.

“You look lovely tonight, baby.”

“What! This is Jake?” Opal shrieked.

Debbie shrugged. “Pearl always did have good taste in men, chica.”

“How did you spot me in this crowd?” Pearl asked him.

Jake turned to and fro dramatically, then back to her. “Crowd? What crowd? All I see is you.” He took her other hand holding them both in the air as he took a step back. “You are without a doubt the most beautiful woman in here. How could I not see you?”

He smiled, then kissed her knuckles again. An audible sigh rose around them from the other women.

Pearl beamed.

Opal rolled her eyes and tapped him on the shoulder.

“Umm, excuse me. Hello. Yes, hi, I know it’s hard to see past the big stars in your eyes, but there really are other people here. Like me, the one that’s been waiting to meet you all this time.”

Debbie nudged her. “Chica, you can be such a hater.”

Jake turned a grin to Opal as he slid Pearl’s arm through his.

“You must be Opal. It’s a pleasure to finally meet you.” He offered her his other hand.

“Yes, I’m Opal and this is Debbie.”

“How are you, Jake? I’m glad we’re finally getting to meet you too. Pearl described you to us, but her description didn’t do you justice at all.”

“Thanks, Debbie. So she’s told you about me, huh?”

“Oh yeah, Jake. We know all about you. All your freaky little likes and habits. Uh-huh, we know it all. Twins tell each other everything, Jake. You didn’t know? Debbie just happened to be there when Pearl was sharing with me.”

Jake turned wide eyes to Pearl. She nodded in agreement. His Adam’s apple bobbed wildly as he swallowed. Before he could speak Debbie burst into fits of laughter.

“Relax, Jake, they’re just kidding.”

The twins laughed.

“For real, Jake. Opal just likes to do that to people,” Pearl confirmed leaning up to kiss his cheek.

He let out a relieved laugh. “Well that’s good to know. Come on. I have a table reserved across the room if you want to sit.”

The women waved goodbye to them as Opal and Debbie picked up step beside Pearl and Jake.
